Christian Science Discovered

In 1866, Mary Baker Eddy discovered what she called “the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named [her] discovery Christian Science,” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p107). Mrs. Eddy describes her work in those early years, “For three years after my discovery I sought the solution of the problem of Mind-healing, searched the Scriptures and read litte else… I knew the Principle of all harmonious Mind-action to be God, and that cures were produced in primitive Christian healing by holy, uplifting faith… I won my way to absolute conclusions through divine revelation, reason, and demonstration.” (S & H p109)

Mrs. Eddy founded the original Church of Christ, Scientist, in 1879, and after a reorganization, The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts was established in 1892.
